Hello Family,
Peter and I just got a new plot at a community garden a few blocks away from our house. It is very exciting and full of interesting characters. At one end of our plot is a 7 year old grape vine that I've heard has never produced fruit (or maybe just not very much). Does anyone have any insight into how to make a grape vine produce? If you gave us the right advice, maybe someday we could supply you with our amazing home-made wine that we will make with the grapes that will be amazing.
Let us know what's happening in your gardens!

Here are a few pictures from the Northern California branch of the family gardeners! We decided to go with raised beds this year for several reasons 1) water conservation (our community water company is raising the price of water due to the drought) 2) our red clay soil is horrible for most vegetables (we spent lots of $$ last year on amendments and they all seem to have disappeared into the ground)3) to keep the garden to a "manageable" size. I am suspicious that the third goal may just be mine and not shared by my partner Vern as he is in the process of building three 4 ft X 18 ft boxes and two 4 ft x 10 ft boxes, plus the mystery project (more about that later) and assorted 3 X 3 boxes for whatever! Yikes. So far we are still in construction mode and nothing is planted yet. As soon as I figure out how to post the photos you will see what I mean.
ReplyDeleteFigured out you can only post pictures on your own blog! Sorry, newbie mistake!
